This bathroom has been completely remodelled with the attention placed on the future needs of someone with limited mobility.
The main focus was to replace the need to step into the bath with a level entry shower. The finished result is a bathroom that is practical and cleverly future-proofed, with wheelchair access if needed.
Everything in the old bathroom was stripped back to bare framing. The plumbing was redesigned to allow for turning the shower on without being in it. The hand rail is positioned for safety and the walls tiled throughout for low maintenance and easy cleaning.
But the stand-out feature of this new bathroom is the basin and the recycled rimu bench tops. The wood came from an old church pew.
The mirror cabinet and the shower box are recessed into the walls to maximise the space in a small room. Under floor heating is added for comfort.
The biggest challenge for Mark was cutting into the existing floor to create the new entry level shower with a channel drain.
“I had some idea of how the bathroom would look but Mark came up with details, which just made the bathroom fabulous!”
